BROADUS_DURLING FAMILY REUNION
To all direct descendants of Paul and Ruth (Durling) Broadus and the descendants of their siblings (Broadus and Durling).
The four remaining children of Paul and Ruth Broadus are planning a family reunion in late 2008 or early 2009 in Central Florida, close to Orlando where Mary lives. We found there was interest expressed by some in the second generation to attend and have a chance to meet cousins and others who may want to come. Also, since it is in the top vacation area in the country, some may want to combine a family vacation with a stop by the reunion. Our very preliminary plans are to keep it as unstructured as possible, with perhaps one planned dinner where all can be together.
To expedite our planning, without giving a firm commitment, please answer the following questions if you think you might have any interest in attending such an event:
- Are you seriously interested in attending a family retreat?
- What dates between October, 2008 and May, 2009 would you be most likely to come (see Ed's findings on High/Low rates).
- How many in your family would come?
- Are there any specific dates in that range that would eliminate you from attending?
- If we find a hotel/motel/retreat site that offers a good group rate, would you be interested in staying there?
Value (cheapest, in other words):
- Jan. 1-Feb. 14
- Aug. 5-Oct. 3 (High Hurricane Season)
- Nov. 25-Dec. 19.
Regular (next to the cheapest)
- Apr. 15-May 23
- Oct. 4-Nov. 24.
Summer (higher still)
- May 24-Aug. 4.
Peak (this explains it)
- Feb. 15-Apr. 14.
Holiday (even higher than peak)
- Dec. 20-31.
Rates were nearly 50% higher for the most expensive period as compared to the cheapest.
Please click Post A Comment at the bottom of this post and answer the questions if you think you might consider joining us. Please add your name in the comment text following your answers so we know who has responded. We would love to see as many of our cousins and their offspring as would care to come.
