We're Homeowners!

As of Thursday, March 26, 2008 my husband and I are officially homeowners for the first time in our lives. Luna is enjoying the new house--more room to roam. Yesterday, we got her a puppy! We haven't named him yet, but he's already loving living here better than where he came from. Of course, trying to potty train a toddler and a puppy at the same time is going to be delightful...but that's a story for a different time. :) I'll post pictures of my house once we get all unpacked and situated.

Congratulations, Ashley! Good to see you are doing your part for the economic recovery!

Puppy training is relatively easy with a crate or cage where the puppy stays when you cannot be giving it full attention. No food or water, just room for their bed. They do not want to soil their bed, so they will hold it up to 9 hours. As soon as you come home or the puppy has been confined a few hours, take it out and let it relieve itself then praise it lavishly. If done consistently the pup will be housebroken in 7-10 days. Never punish if you do not see it go in the house, as the puppy will be clueless why it is punished and only learn to fear you.

There are several good web sites on the subject. A good one I found is http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2114&aid=157

As for housebreaking humans, I have no clue, but I am certain there are a multitude of web sites discussing that issue also.

Cheers
