I heard an interesting commentary this morning from a terrorism expert. He says that France is soft and appeasing in public, and tough as nails in their internal approach to terrorism--that in fact they have been very cooperateive with our intelligence services.
Britain, on the other hand, is tough externally, joining us in Iraq, making public statements of defiance--but internally they are much more compromised. Known terrorist sympathizers have been wined and dined by the mayor of London, and London, with its 700,000 Muslims, has been allowed to become a hotbed of radical Islam, freely publishing their hate and teaching it in their Mosques.
When asked about America, this person said that we are tough on the outside and tough on the inside.
We have our vulnerabilities, and we certainly have our share of America-hating appeasing apologists for radical Islam, but so far the majority of the electorate has stood firm and backed this Administration in what all reasoned opinion in both political parties conceed will be a long struggle, but one we must win if civilization as we know it will survive.
