Having dyslexia, I was trying to remove a blogger who was inactive and accidentally removed myself from admin. How do I get back admin function?
now the blog has no admin. I feel so stupid.

Family Enscussions

When a comment is posted to one of my blogs which I created, I get an email of. I don't get one for this blog. Does anyone know how I can get an email on each comment?

Mr. Federman, who thinks often about how societies "remember," sees digital photography as a disaster for historians. People delete pictures from their cameras' memory cards. Hard drives crash. PCs end up in the dump, photos still on board. And CDs full of pictures will become unreadable when their surfaces deteriorate (you heard that right--CDs are incredibly unstable). With all that, says Mr. Federman, we're on the verge of losing billions of pictures. "We will not have a record of the individual stories that are told by families from one generation to another through pictures," Mr. Federman says. "That is a wealth of human history that will simply be lost."

Something to think about with all the discussion of pictures of ancestors on this blog.

Paul & Ruth Broadus

Edwin asked if I would scan the pictures of Ruth and Paul that were taken around the time of their marriage. So far, despite going through hundreds of pictures this evening, this is the only one I have found. As soon as the one of Daddy shows up, I will post it, also.

Life choices

I wrote this as a comment to Jami's "Whaddawannabewenyagrowup?" post below, but I was afraid no one would read it.

Sorry I am late to this party. I guess no one will read how in second grade I dreamed of being a software engineer writing code to spin a motor to wiggle fins on a sea launched missile for the Navy. Yes that was some dreaming.

I knew that I wanted to do anything but be a defense contractor. I thought I wanted to be a preacher, which in a lot ways I am. As for striving to be a millionaire, there isn't much striving to it in this country. Simply putting aside a bit of your income for a long time will do the trick. It isn't complicated. You young kids should take FPU and it will be in the bank. But I digress.

I graduated Hight School and Poppy came to me and asked what I was going to do now. Now? I had no idea. He gave me three options. Get out, pay rent or go to college. I didn't like the first two, so I enrolled at ETBC. The only major that I wanted was computer science but they didn't have that so I took math, which was the same dept. I did a year at UT in Austin first as an EE major, then CompSci then history.

I got homesick so I came back to (now) ETBU and majored in history. I was enrolled in Survey of Professional Lit with Polly Davis. I was so digruntled that one day I was walking down the hall and saw my old math prof. I was complaining about Dr. Davis and then wondered out loud how hard would it be to finish my math degree. He worked it out so that for 3 more hours I could have a degree in math and not history. That was a million dollar conversation. My employment prospects were much greater from that point on.

I went to grad school at ETSU, now TAMUC, and a professor said he knew of an internship at E-Systems he could recommend me for. It turned out to be full time and I have been with the same company for 17 years now. The nice thing is that I change jobs every year or two and even have lived in another country but it looks like I have had the same job the whole time. Best of both worlds.

If I had any advice for kids today it would be two things. One the easiest path is always the hardest. If I have not taken the hardest major at ETBU, my life later would have been much harder. Second, always say YES! when God calls you to do something. His ways are higher and frankly a lot more fun!
